The Unspoken Shift

A 6-week, facilitated support group for mothers in early motherhood who want to understand what’s really happening beneath the surface — and feel steadier, clearer, and less alone.

For mothers with babies under 2 who are craving more than small talk, surface-level support, or “just get through it” advice.

You’ve been to the free coffee groups. You’ve done the small talk. You’ve heard “this is just the season” more times than you can count.

This group is for mothers who feel changed in ways they can’t quite explain — more emotional, more overwhelmed, more unsure of themselves — and want language, understanding, and grounded support to make sense of this season and move through it with more confidence.

If this already feels like it’s speaking to you, you’re warmly invited to join us.

  • You feel like motherhood has shifted your identity, emotions or relationships

  • You’re functioning - but carrying more internally than what you let on

  • You want understanding, not fixing

  • You’re tired of minimising how hard this season is

  • You want real conversation, not comparison or small talk

This space is intentionally different.

It’s not a casual drop-in or social catch-up.
It’s a facilitated, reflective group designed for mothers who want depth, understanding, and support through the identity shift of early motherhood.

If you’re looking for parenting tips, routines, or light conversation, this may not be the right fit — and that’s okay.

This group is for you if:

Why this space is different — and what you’ll take away

Free coffee groups (including mine!) are a beautiful part of early motherhood. They offer connection, familiarity, and a reminder that you’re not alone — and they absolutely have their place.

The Unspoken Shift is something different.

This is a facilitated, closed group for mothers who are craving more than small talk — and who want to understand what’s really happening beneath the surface of this season.

Mothers often leave with:

  • A clear understanding of matrescence — and why this season can feel so disorienting

  • Language for what they’re experiencing (and relief that it makes sense)

  • Less self-doubt and self-blame

  • Greater emotional steadiness and self-trust

  • Meaningful connection with other local mothers who get it

This isn’t a drop-in catch-up or a parenting advice group.
It’s a space to slow down, reflect, and be supported — facilitated by Stacey May, Certified Matrescence Practitioner and held within a small group designed for depth, safety, and real connection.

What we’ll explore over the 6 weeks

Each session is gently facilitated and builds on the one before. You don’t need any prior knowledge or preparation.

Week 1 — Introduction to Matrescence
What matrescence is, how it compares to adolescence, and the many emotional, relational, and identity changes that come with motherhood — and why they make sense.

Week 2 — Why Motherhood Feels So Heavy
Why parenting in modern society can feel overwhelming, the impact of the “perfect mother” myth, and how values-aligned parenting can reduce self-doubt and pressure.

Week 3 — Emotional Regulation & the First 1000 Days
What’s happening in your baby’s brain and your nervous system, how co-regulation works, and why emotions can feel so intense during this stage.

Week 4 — Who Am I Now?
Exploring identity shifts in motherhood and gentle ways to reconnect with yourself as you grow into who you’re becoming.

Week 5 — Sleep, Anxiety & Wellbeing
The impact of disrupted sleep, the difference between worry and anxiety, recognising red flags, and knowing when and where to seek extra support.

Week 6 — Mental Load & Relationship Changes
Understanding the invisible mental load, how motherhood reshapes relationships, and how to share the weight more sustainably.
